Sie können besorgt sein, es braucht keine Vorkenntnisse um an der Tour teilnehmen zu können. Wir zeigen Ihnen am Anfang der Reise wie Gold gewaschen wird und bringen Ihnen den Umgang mit Goldwaschpfanne und Rinne bei. Während der ganzen Zeit können Sie auf unsere Erfahrung und Unterstützung zählen. Auch wir sind daran interessiert dass Sie erfolgreich sind und glücklich und zufrieden nach Hause gehen.
Unsere Reise führt uns mit dem Flugzeug von Fairbanks über den Polarkreis und den Yukon Fluss nach Bettles. Das Tor zum "Gates of the Arctic" Nationalpark. Mit einem Kleinflugzeug, normalerweise einer Cessna, fliegen wir weiter zu den Claims am Crevice Creek. Kopieren Sie die nachfolgende Koordinate und fügen Sie sie in Google Earth ein um herauszufinden wo sich die Gold Claims befinden und wo unser Camp steht.
Gold Claims und Basis Camp: 67 22' 00.74N, 151 57' 51.31W
Der grösste Teil der Ausrüstung stellen wir Ihnen zur Verfügung und ist an Ort und Stelle vorhanden. Wir stellen Ihnen nach der Buchung eine Ausrüstungsliste zu aus welcher unter anderem ersichtlich ist, dass Sie Ihre eigene Goldwaschpfanne und ein Paar Hüftstiefel mitbringen sollten.
Sie können selbstverständlich einen Metall Detektor mitbringen. Beachten Sie aber, dass die damit getätigten Funde zu dem mit Pfanne und Schleuse gefundenen Gold kommt. Siehe dazu die Rubrik "Aufteilung der Goldfunde". Die zur Zeit besten Detektoren auf dem Markt, was die Goldsucherei anbelangt, sind die Geräte der Firma Minelab.
Neben den Kosten für die Anreise nach Alaska fallen ca. € 180 / US$ 250 für Getränke und Lebensmittel an, alkoholische Getränke nicht eingerechnet. Zusätzlich sind Kosten für Souvenirs, Restaurant/Bar Besuche, Aktivitäten privater Natur und Unterkünfte vor und nach der Tour, nicht eingeschlossen.
Obschon Grizzly und Schwarz Bären in der Gegend um den Crevice Creek heimisch sind, haben wir diese imposanten Lebewesen kaum jemals zu Gesicht bekommen. Die Teilnehmer werden am Anfang der Tour informiert, wie man sich in ihrem Territorium verhält und welche Vorsichtsmassnahmen eingehalten werden müssen. Der Reiseleiter führt eine Schusswaffe mit sich und pro Zelt wird bei Beginn der Tour ein Pfefferspray verteilt. Die Viecher die uns gelegentlich zu schaffen machen sind die Moskitos und die Schwarz Fliegen. Glücklicherweise gibt es aber dagegen Insektenschutzmittel.
Obschon die Goldsucherei eine gewisse körperliche Fitness voraus setzt, brauchen Sie kein Spitzenathlet zu sein. Sollten aber die Fähigkeit haben, täglich 5 bis 10 Kilometer zu Fuss zurücklegen zu können. Am Anfang der Tour wird uns das Gepäck und die Lebensmittel zum Basis Camp transportiert und am Ende wieder abgeholt.
In der Regel arbeiten wir im Team, d.h. alle Teilnehmer, inkl. der Reiseleiter der Reise, ziehen am selben Strick. Damit es bei der Aufteilung des gefundenen Goldes gerecht und friedlich zu und her geht, haben wir seit Beginn dieser Touren immer die gleiche Regel angewandt. Mit anderen Worten, sämtliches Gold das während der Tour gefunden wird landet in einem Topf und wird anschliessend unter allen Schürfern zu gleichen Teilen aufgeteilt. Dazu werden bei der Aufteilung Lose gezogen und wer die Nr. 1 gezogen hat, kann mit dem Auswählen des ersten Goldnuggets beginnen. Dann folgt die Person mit der Nr. 2 usw.. Die höchste Nummer kommt am Schluss an die Reihe, kann aber gleichzeitig zwei Stücke auswählen. Dann geht das Spiel weiter bis wieder die Nr. 1 an der Reihe ist und auch diese Person kann diesmal zwei Stücke auswählen. Je weiter die Aufteilung fortschreitet, desto weniger Nuggets und mehrheitlich Goldflitter/Goldstaub bleiben übrig. Dieses Gold wird dann unter Aufsicht des Schiedsrichters so aufgeteilt, dass alle Teilnehmer die gleiche Menge (Gewicht) Gold besitzen. Beispiel: Während der Tour finden wir 6 Unzen (186.6 Gramm) Gold und die Gruppe besteht aus 5 Teilnehmer und dem Reiseleiter. Der Fund wird somit gleichmässig auf sechs Personen aufgeteilt oder in Zahlen ausgedrückt, jede Person kriegt 1 Unze (31.1 Gramm) Goldnuggets und Goldflitter. Sollten wir pro Person mehr als 1 Unze finden, dann liefern wir 50% des Überschusses an den Besitzer des Claims ab und teilen die anderen 50% unter der Gruppe auf.
Der Export von Gold aus Alaska ist rechtlich gesehen überhaupt kein Problem. Für die Importbestimmungen des jeweiligen Heimatlandes sind die Teilnehmer aber selber verantwortlich. Da sie in der Regel in der Lage sind, ca. 1 Unze +/- mit nach Hause zu nehmen, sollte dies überhaupt kein Problem darstellen. Schliesslich haben sie es selber gefunden und nicht gekauft. Bringen daher ein sehr persönliches Reiseandenken mit nach Hause, welches zudem auf sehr kleinem Raum, nämlich in der Hosentasche, Platz hat.
You can be assured you don't need any previous experience to take part on our tours. We will show you at the beginning of the trip how to use the gold pan or the sluice box. During the whole trip we will be there and you can count on our experience and support. It is also in our interest that your are successful and being able to go back home satisfied.
Our journey leads us by plane from Fairbanks across the Arctic Circle and the Yukon River to Bettles, the gate to "The Gates of the Arctic" National park. By bush plane, usually a Cessna, we fly further North to the claims at Crevice Creek. We will supply the biggest part of the gold panning equipment except the personal gold pan and waders. After making a booking or booking request we will send you a list which will show you what sort of gear is needed.
If you wish you can bring a metal detector along The best detectors for prospecting for gold which are on the market at present are from the Australian company Minelab. Just bear in mind, that everything you might find with the detector will end up in the same pot with the other gold that gets found with pan and sluice. Please check out "Dividing the gold" column.
Besides the flight costs to Fairbanks, Alaska you will also have to account for about € 180 / US$ 250 for food and beverages. Alcoholic drinks are not included in this. On top there will be your personal expenses for souvenirs, restaurant / bar visits, private activities and lodging before and after the tour which are not included.
Even though Grizzlies and black bears call the area in and around Crevice Creek their home, we hardly ever get to see these impressive animals. At the beginning of each trip, all the participants get informed how to behave in their territory and what precautionary measures to apply. The guide is carrying a handgun and at the beginning of the trip a pepper spray is handed out per tent. The only critters which can be a bit of a nuisance at times are the mosquitoes and black flies but fortunately we will have insect repellent for that.
Even though gold panning requires a certain level of fitness you don't have to be an athlete. However you should be able to walk about 4 to 6 miles on a daily basis. At the beginning of the trip our luggage, food and equipment will be transported to our base camp and picked up at the end.
In general we work as a team, which means all participants including the guide are pulling on the same rope. To divide the gold in a pleasant and peaceful manner we have adapted the same rule since we started the first gold panning tours. At the end of the trip when the sacred dividing ritual begins, everybody draws a number. The person with Nr. 1 is able to pick the first nugget followed by person with Nr. 2. The highest number has to be patient and wait to the end to choose however he will be able to pick two nuggets before the direction changes. When it is up to Nr. 1 again he also is able to pick two pieces and so the dividing process goes on until all the bigger pieces have found its owners. In the end we split the finer gold so everybody gets the same amount of gold in weight. Hopefully we don't have to cut a huge nugget into pieces during this fascinating happening! Example: During the whole tour the group finds 6 ounces (186.6 grams) of gold and the group consists of 5 participants and the guide. The find is therefore going to be divided amongst the six people or in numbers, each person receives 1 ounce (31.1 grams) of nuggets and flakes. Should we find more than 1 Ounce per Person, we will have to share the surplus with the owner of the claim and divide the other 50% amongst the group.
There is no restriction as far as the export of gold is concerned from Alaska. As far as the import regulations are concerned for importing gold into their own country it is each participants own responsibility. However when you take into account that each participant usually goes home with about 1 ounce +/- of gold then we can't see this being a problem since you have found it yourself and not purchased. On top of that it is not of commercial nature but a very personal souvenir which fits into your pockets.
