Goldnuggets sind rar.
Nur ca. 1 Promille des weltweit geförderten Goldes wird als Nugget gefunden.
Ein Nugget von 1 Unze (31,1 g) ist so selten wie ein fünfkarätiger Diamant.
Grosse Nuggets sind deshalb - wie auch Diamanten - viel mehr wert (pro Unze) als kleinere. Neben dem Gewicht spielen für die Werteinschätzung noch andere Faktoren eine Rolle, etwa der Reinheitsgrad sowie Form und Farbe. Ein sehr reines Nugget mit viel Charakter ist deshalb unter Liebhabern auch etliches mehr wert als eine vergleichbare Menge Goldstaub oder raffiniertes Gold.

Big gold nuggets are therefore - just like diamonds - worth more (per ounce) than smaller ones. Besides the weight there are other factors which determine the price of a nugget. These are the purity, the shape and the colour. Amongst collectors, a very pure gold nugget with lots of character fetches more than the same amount of gold dust or refined gold.
